"Street Rats: An Ethnography on Rollerblading and Skill Acquisition" (2024), a semi-observational ethnographic film based on a rollerblading crew in New York City.

Based on ten weeks of ethnographic fieldwork, I conducted participation observation to understand how the rollerblading crew Careen from New York City navigates public space; to understand how their participation in this group and sport builds a sense of community. I explore how Careen’s engagement in public spaces through rollerblading and filming shapes an inclusive rollerblading crew by understanding how they reappropriate and share public space and their creative direction in making skate videos. This is my thesis film for the Master's program in Visual Ethnography at Leiden University in the Netherlands.
